Sister Nancy Defeats Father O'Henry for Fight of the Night Bonus During St. Martin Church MMA Fundraiser

Topeka, KS: A sold out crowd turned out to see what ended up being one of the most exciting MMA cards of the year. St. Martin church officials say that they exceeded their fundraising goals for the church's missionary and humanitarian work. The decision to host cage fights was met with controversy but the strategy seems to have paid off for the struggling Kansas church. The card featured several church practitioners as well as prominent members of the clergy.

Father Dennis was victorious in the opening bout after submitting Altar Boy Max Freshly with strikes 14 seconds into the first round. Father Dennis came out swinging and surprised his heavily favored opponent, catching him with a brutal left hook to the jaw.

"I'm just glad we could all come together and raise money for such a good cause," he said after his victory. "I just trained hard. I had a good camp and stuck to my game plan. I knew he'd want to take me down but I outweigh him by about 80 pounds so I figured I'd try to keep it on my feet. I feel bad that I put him into intensive care but this is the fight game you know.  Its all part of the divine plan."

In the co-main event Sister Nancy slugged out a close decision. She edged out Father O' Henry in a 3 round middleweight bout that earned both fighters a fight of the night bonus. The ring and the combatants were covered in blood after Sister Nancy open a substantial cut over the father's right eye at the close of the first round.

"Real blood certainly tastes different than sacramental wine but I'm not complaining. The win felt great. He's a real grinder and a real scrappy guy for a man of the cloth. I think I was just in a little bit better shape than he was. I'm just glad we were able to raise all this money to support our peace and goodwill missions throughout the world."

The final bout of the evening ended in a draw due to Father Thomas not being able to continue after being struck with an illegal head butt. Sunday school teacher Mark Glanville delivered the blow from the clinch late in the second round. It appeared to knock the father unconscious and it opened a massive gash on his forehead.

"It was just a reaction. Some of you may call it dirty but it was just something I did in the heat of battle. I'm not proud of it but his broken orbital bone will heal eventually. I am proud of all the money we raised for the needy. Maybe we'll do a rematch next year."
